【Satisfactorily completed - IMMC-QEF Field Study: HKQAI】
On September 9, with the support of the Hong Kong Quantum Artificial Intelligence(HKQAI) Laboratory, the IMMC-QEF project successfully cooperated with HKQAI to hold a field study event! The Hong Kong government is committed to vigorously developing the technology industry and hopes to build Hong Kong into an international innovation and technology center. One of the programs led and supported by the Hong Kong government is InnoHK, which aims to promote Hong Kong's scientific research capabilities in various fields. The Hong Kong Quantum Artificial Intelligence Laboratory is one of the program members, and its research focuses on batteries, OLEDs, and data platforms.
In this event, Dr. Kyle Chow from HKQAI served as the speaker and tour leader. Dr. Chow prepared a workshop titled "Battery Technologies and the Needs of Mathematical Modeling" for the participants.
He first introduced the purpose, members, and research directions of HKQAI. Then, he explained the basic physical and chemical knowledge of lithium batteries and discussed the development history and future trends of batteries. At the same time, he also mentioned that whether it involves battery technology (such as physics, thermodynamics, computational fluid dynamics, etc.) or factory manufacturing management (such as energy and time costs, etc.), mathematical modeling is required, and even big data and artificial intelligence can be used to find out the possible solutions behind the problem.
Based on his own research and work experience, Dr. Chow shared the role of mathematical modeling in problem-solving, emphasizing the elements required to understand the problem, select appropriate methods based on the characteristics of the problem, and finally compare the results with the problem, to ensure that the chosen method meets the requirements of the problem.
Finally, Dr. Chow led the teachers and students to visit the offices and laboratories of HKQAI, allowing them to have a preliminary understanding of HKQAI's research equipment and the batteries used in the laboratory, thereby gaining a deeper understanding of the work of HKQAI.
Here, we are very grateful to HKQAI and Dr. Chow for their support and dedication, and we are also grateful to all teachers and students for their participation. We hope that through this event, teachers and students will have a deeper understanding of scientific research in Hong Kong and increase their opportunities to participate in the scientific research industry.
